Medical device manufacturer, Thermo Fisher Scientific issued a medical device safety alert concerning Oxoid Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Disc AMP10 (Ampicillin) with model number CT0003B and lot number 1215912.

According to the manufacturer, a technical investigation has indicated that cartridges of this lot may contain discs with insufficient amount of antibiotic. Continued use of this lot could result in false indication of resistance to Ampicillin.

The manufacturer advises the affected customers to:

• destroy any remaining stock;
• contact Customer Services or local Oxoid supplier who will issue a replacement;
• review results reported using this lot; and
• consider retesting and/or seek appropriate expert advice.

The manufacturer confirmed that the affected products have been distributed in Hong Kong.
