Medical device manufacturer, Gebruder Martin GmbH & Co. KG, has issued a medical device safety alert concerning its Scalpel Blade, Sterile [Delivery Period: 25 July 2019 to 25 November 2019]. The affected product distributed in Hong Kong is identified as follows:
The manufacturer informed the users that the scalpel blades, which have put on the market, have been found to have corrosion on the metal surface of the product in the sterile packaging.
According to the manufacturer, when opening several sterile packaged scalpel lines, residues were noted on the metal surface of the scalpel blades, reminiscent of rust stains or stained soils. Some scalpel surfaces of the same batch showed rust-like components on their surface even when still packaged.
Product recall is on-going.
According to the local supplier, the affected product is distributed in Hong Kong.
