Medical device manufacturer, NuVasive Specialized Orthopedics, has issued a field announcement concerning its Precice Bone Transport (PBT) Nail.
The manufacturer reminds users that a Retention plug & driver (BTXX-RMV01) is required prior to the PBT nail being removed from patient. Failure to use the retention plug can result in disassociation of the PBT distal plug inside patient's body.
Affected users should refer to the latest PBT Surgical Technique Guides (9511961 and 9511404) for instructions on how to properly use the retention plug and driver for nail removals.
According to the local supplier, the affected product is not distributed in Hong Kong.
